Privacy policy

The short version

• Calculators run in your browser. What you type is not sent to us.
• If you choose "Remember on this device", your numbers are kept in your browser's local storage. Clear them any time with "Clear my data" in the footer.
• An account is optional. We only store what you choose to save, and you can download or delete it at any time.
• We do not sell your data and do not use it for personalised advertising.

What we store if you sign in

Signing in uses your Google account through Firebase Authentication (Google). With an account we store:

• Account: an ID from the sign-in provider, the provider name, your display name, your profile photo if you upload one, and your privacy settings.
• Moments you save: the rounded number and sentence shown on the card (for example "11,400+ days"), the calculator it came from, and the date you saved it. Not your inputs.
• Life profile, only if you turn on sync: the fields you entered (such as birthday, pay, hours, commute, savings). Sync is off by default; turning it off deletes the server copy.
• Profile photo: resized to 512×512 pixels in your browser before upload, which also removes location and other metadata. Stored in Firebase Storage.

Account data is stored in MongoDB on servers we control and in Google Firebase. It is used only to show your data back to you.

Analytics and cookies

If you click "Accept" on the cookie bar, we use Google Analytics for Firebase to count page views and anonymous events such as "calculator used" or "moment shared", with the calculator's name. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives technical data such as your browser, device type, approximate location and pages visited. It never receives what you typed: no birthdays, amounts or names.

If you click "Decline", or never choose, Google Analytics is not loaded. Change your choice any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

Sharing

Share cards are drawn in your browser. When you share, the image goes wherever you send it; we never see it. Links on cards point to the calculator page with no personal information in the URL.

Your rights

From Profile you can download all your data as a file, turn sync off, or delete your account. Deleting removes your account, profile, moments and photo, and your sign-in record. These controls cover the rights to access and delete data under the CCPA and GDPR. You can also contact us.

Children

Life Count Up is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change what we store, we update this page and its date before the change goes live. See also our terms of use.
