What your exact age means
Your age in years is the number of birthdays you have had. Your exact age goes further: the full months since your last birthday, then the days since that month mark. It is the answer forms ask for when they want age on a specific date, and the one doctors use for babies and toddlers.
The same span of time looks very different in other units. A 31-year-old has lived more than 11,000 days, more than 1,600 weeks and more than a quarter of a million hours. Seeing it that way is the whole idea behind this site: a number you already know, told in a way that makes you look twice.

How the months are counted
Months are not all the same length, so we step through real calendar months from your birth date. If you were born on the 31st, your month mark falls on the last day of shorter months (Feb 28, Apr 30…). The leftover is counted in days. This is the same rule used by most age calculators and by US legal age, so your answer matches official forms.

How we calculate
Whole calendar months from your birth date to today, split into years and months, then the leftover days. A birthday on Feb 29 counts as Feb 28 in non-leap years.
